Context
Polyurethane products are used in a wide variety of applications, such as adhesives and footwear. In the adhesives industry, polyurethane adhesives are obtained through the reaction of diisocyanates and polyols aimed at different industries such as footwear where in addition to using these types of adhesives in the assembly phase of footwear components, there is a type of polyurethane flooring materials that are widely used.
On August 4, 2020, the European authorities adopted a new restriction on diisocyanates under the REACH Regulation. Personnel will need to be trained and certified by August 24, 2023 on the safe handling of products containing diisocyanates. This applies to all professional and industrial users of products with a total monomeric diisocyanate concentration of > 0.1%. The labels of these products must bear a phrase indicating the training requirement as of February 24, 2022.
Therefore, this webinar discusses what the diisocyanate restriction means, how the training is being developed, what is the timeline for its implementation and its applications in industry.
